OFFA COMMISSION POLICE STATION, MOPOL BARRACK
It was a colloquium of the high and the low in common spirit of festivities as Offa, Offa Local Government area in Kwara State ushered people from all walks of life to the grand commission of a newly-built police station and a police barrack, yesterday.
The two projects, which were commissioned as part of celebrating the ongoing 2018 edition of Ijakadi (a socio-cultural festival in the community) are answers to the incessant yearnings to governments at all levels on security.
The event was declared opened by 10am, and the opening prayer was said by the Chief Imam of Offa, Sheikh Muideen Salman Hussein, who was flanked by his deputy, Naibul-Imam, Sheikh Qozeem Baba and other notable clerics in and around the community. After which there were blessings from the royal fathers.
The projects were commissioned by the quattro of the Inspector-General of Police, IG Idris, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammad, the President of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Usman Yasin and the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi.
It also witnessed the presence of dignitaries from different endeavours, including concerned individuals, corporate bodies, commanders from MOPOL, SARS, POLICE, politicians, business moguls, chiefs, royal fathers under the umbrella of His Royal Highness, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, the Olofa of Offa.
Among other notable persons were Mrs Baseerat Yemisi, Arc Lola Ashiru, Mr. Temitope Olarinoye (Danlad), Mr. Femi White, Mr. Abdulwahid Gbenga Yusuf, Mr. Saheed Olalekan Popoola, and a host of others.
Representing the media were Channels TV, TVC Nigeria, NTA, Amilad TV, Distinguished Magazine and some others.
On another note, political enthusiasts seized the rare opportunity the event presented to openly flaunt their support for favourite politicians, as each group could be seen wearing fez caps, clothes on which different politicians’ pictures were embroidered.
